Black metal is a subgenre of heavy metal. It is more extreme and utilizes highly distorted guitars, very fast tempos, special drumming and screaming vocal. Thrash metal was a base for black metal development. There were two waves: the first wave contained groups such as Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Venom, Bathory, Old Funeral and the second wave took place in the 1990s and contained such groups as Emperor, Mayhem, Burzum, Darkthrone and Immortal. It was a good push for black metal music development.
