Rock: Alternative

Alternative rock is a rock music genre, which appeared in the 1980s. Some people call this kind of music: the alt-rock, alternative music or just alternative. Alternative rock became quite popular in the 1990s. Alternative rock has a lot of subgenres, which developed in the 1980s. The ground of alternative rock music development was punk rock. Later, in the 1980s such subgenres as Britpop, gothic rock, indie pop and grunge appeared.
