Balzac is a Japanese rock band formed in 1992 in Osaka. The band was founded by singer and songwriter Hirosuke Nishiyama, who has remained the only constant member of the band since its creation. Before creating Balzac, Hirosuke fronted another band, Astrozombies, which was very heavily influenced by legendary Japanese rockers, Gastunk. Astrozombies released only one demo cassette, entitled "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", before Hirosuke disbanded it and started on his new project, Balzac. In 1992 their first demo cassette was released, in a limited 13-copy release, entitled "Scapegoat 666".
