Mark Hofmann (formerly known as GODkrist) found ENGELSSTAUB (German for "angel's dust") in 1992. It was meant to be his solo project as well as the follow up project of the band LES FLEURS DU MAL. From the very beginning, all releases of ENGELSSTAUB were released exclusively through the label APOLLYON - the label he runs together Janusz Zaremba.
After the release of the 7" single "Unholy", his sister Silke (formerly known as Lilith) and his labelmate Janusz Zaremba joined the band.
